FAQ

FAQ 1: Who is behind this madness?

We are the Rajulu sisters (Meena and Aruna), and we like to plan things. Anyone who knows us, knows that we like to plan. And we've decided to use our powers for good and not evil.

BUT - it isn't just us who run the FUNraisers, we have a great group of friends, colleagues, acquaintances, random strangers etc. who help us plan charity fundraisers, and who attend them. Sometimes we just play a supporting role, and help people out when they ask us for ideas or logistical support.

FAQ 2: Why is it Ottawa Funraisers and not Ottawa Fundraisers? Are you dumb and just spelled it incorrectly?

No, we are not dumb. We generally are sticklers for spelling. We just wanted to call it FUNraisers to emphasize our commitment to FUN. We want people to have a good time, and help themselves while they help others. Our events help people  - but nobody likes a Debbie Downer, so we try to keep the heart-wrenching-save-the-children-tear-jerking monologues to a minimum.

FAQ 3: What kind of events have you planned?

Some events we've planned are:
  • Speed-dating for Charity - 20 dates for $20! We have had 5 of these so far, and they've been very well-attended (by well-attended we mean that we made money for charity AND people were good-looking and went on lots of dates). These have supported such charities as the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.

  • Drink a Small Town Dry - Raised funds for the Ottawa Children's Hospital.

  • Nights of dinner and entertainment - We have had two of these events, one called "Have a Heart for Haiti" which raised about $5,000 for victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and another called "Imdad", which raised about $15,000 for the victims of the 2010 Floods in Pakistan.

If you have any other questions - just let us know and we'll be sure to answer them!
